"Hello! My name is Matthew, but my friends call me Matt! You can if you want. What's your name?….. Pardon?…... I'm sorry I can't hear you. Oh well, you will just have to tell me when I come to visit your school. I've had cancer, but it was different than Sophie's. It was a tumour. The cancer cells went into one spot in my leg. Most times the doctors can fix that, but mine was really bad and not getting better, so it was decided that to stop the cancer from going into other parts of the body it was best to amputate my leg. At first it was pretty scary only having one leg, but I got used to it, and my friends helped a lot. I can still do most things. Actually, I'm a really great swimmer. Boy can I go! Special Olympics, here I come! You should have seen me go at the last Camp Quality! I went rock climbing and horseback riding and sailing and, and ….oh, just heaps of fun stuff. My favourite craft was chocolate making! It was really cool! I even made some to take home for my family. The only problem is, that I ate them all on the way home! I was nearly sick because I had so many!”

I laughed so much and had such great fun at camp, that when I went back to hospital for needles and stuff, I was so busy telling the doctor about camp that the treatment didn't seem to hurt as much! We had an awesome time. When some of the kids asked me what happened to my leg I tricked them by saying" Oh, I sold it at a Garage Sale." You should have seen their faces!! I just laughed and laughed! I did tell them I was joking, and then what really happened! It's kids like you, that make kids like me, feel better about ourselves, because you care enough to want to help us feel like everyone else, and that looking 'different' is okay. I'm really looking forward to meeting you in person. Hey! I've got a good idea! Why don't you and your friends ask your teachers to invite the puppets to your school? It doesn't cost anything, and we will get to meet each other!
