Message from the director

Hello Everyone,

Summer Camp’s end is always bittersweet. Sweet because there were so many smiling happy faces shining during the week, and bitter because once again the time flew by too quickly. In fact, on the first day of camp, one of our young campers intuitively observed that the week was “already going by too quickly”! Given only a week’s time, we sure packed in a lot of activity and lifetime memory making.

Our programming team organized days filled with adventures and new experiences. We did the typical camp stuff like boating, swimming, campfires (‘smores anyone??), and crafts. Then we did some not so typical stuff like: motorbike riding; archery; horseback riding; being visited by some very friendly and very tame barnyard animals (the goat was soooo cute); having highlights put in our hair; going on an off-site visit to our local KOA ground and Fort William Historical Park; having a visit from CAPALU, a circus act; participating in a drumming workshop; and experiencing one of the most amazing fireworks display ever, to name just a few! The Talent Show was so much fun, with some memorable works of talent displayed. We were all touched by G-Man’s solo and everyone who participated will agree that this night was magical. I will also always remember the ABBA dance party afterwards!

The ending of this Camp is bittersweet for me in another way too. I have had the time of my life as Director of CQNWO, and now it is time for me to step down as Director. Gladys Berringer will be our new Director and an Assistant Director will be announced shortly. Though I leave the position of Director, I am not leaving Camp Quality entirely. There are many reasons for wanting to stay involved, and the biggest, most important one is because I think our campers are so awesome!

I know I have said it a million times before, and I will say it one last time on this page. If you are looking for a place to do some volunteer work, then this is the place to be. The CQ kids keep me focused and make being a part of Camp Quality one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences ever. They have made me a better person.

Thanks everyone! Stay tuned for a message from Gladys…

Bye,
Paula
