Message from the director
Hello Everyone,
It’s been a while since I’ve written an update as to the happenings at CQ NWO – over 6 months, to be sure. Time sure flies when you’re having fun! And we have been having fun.
In November, our wonderful campers, families and volunteers reunited for the first time after Summer Camp. We enjoyed a glorious morning aboard a parade float in our local Santa Claus Parade. The weather wasn’t so glorious, and in usual Thunder Bay style, it was frigid! CQ spirits and hearts, however, can never be dampened by weather! Our campers were dressed in their festive best, wrapped as Christmas gifts. The float was ‘expertly’ decorated and then ‘undecorated’ by our trusty families and volunteers. Then after the parade itself, we headed out for a hot lunch buffet and then to a movie.
Recently, we wrapped up a weekend of organized activities and much excitement and memory making. Campers, families and volunteers spent two nights at a local hotel where campers were pampered and entertained around the clock. On the first night, the Thunder Bay weather dampened the plan for a sleigh ride, but in its place were a number of other activities planned. The second day, though, the weather co-operated and CQ members were seen skiing and snowboarding at a local ski hill. There were manicures, massages, and many other ‘treats’ to complement the fun-filled weekend.
So, here we are gearing up for ‘next year’s’, which quickly became ‘this year’s’ Summer Camp. The theme has been announced and we will be having ‘Summer Fun’ like you’ve never seen before! As always, the Programming Staff will have a week of activities planned, and combined with the awesome food you can be sure that this will be a summer that will be remembered forever. I can’t wait!
For those reading this and thinking about volunteering, don’t just think about it – DO IT! We have many positions available and you will always be glad that you joined such a dynamic and vibrant group of people – campers, volunteers, and camper families included. Follow the links to get yourself an application. We look forward to hearing from you!
Bye for now,
